Design & Build - Beach Haven

When a repeat client asked for help designing and building a new coastal home in Beach Haven, the respective teams were only too happy to assist. She was hopeful they could translate the picture she had in her mind into the perfect design. Upon receiving it, she announced they had “got it 100% right”!

The home would occupy a small coastal site and her desire was to frame it around a large Kauri tree – with a view of the harbour behind. It was a unique proposition, and the Design Partners’ vision of a property with a large wall of glass framing the tree was perfectly aligned to her own.

Having previously worked with this client, each team clicked into gear to ensure all the finer details were completed just right. And as well as collaboration with the client, the architects and building project manager also worked closely together. On any project, it’s critical that the architect’s wishes are carried through to the construction phase – and the Property Partners vision to have these disciplines alongside each other makes it so much easier to achieve.

For this Beach Haven address, the design was to be simple but incorporate high quality and diverse fixtures. Occupying the space would be polished concrete, bespoke cedar balustrades and a unique freestanding bath among others. Further creative design features in the 180m2 three bedroom home included the flowing open plan living space and cosy fireplace – always with the central Kauri/harbour backdrop.

From the design process through to sister company Build Partners’ realisation of the blueprint, it was an enjoyable process – underpinned by a fixed pricing schedule that was still flexible enough to allow the client to ADD more ideas and products during the build process itself. Any hiccups along the way – such as height to boundary neighbour consents – were dealt with smoothly.

The result is a high quality, unique property that reflects the client’s personality and makes a strong statement about what “home” means to her.
